    Description

    WONDERFUL
    ANTIQUE 14" BLACK PAPIER-MACHE/Cloth Male Doll
    Green/Ivory Silk Military-Inspired Costume
    CRECHE FIGURE? MILITARY FIGURE
    circa late 19th century
    European/African black male (possibly what was called a "Moor," "Blackamoor" or "Moorish" person then).
    Cloth over wire armature body (posable) with German papier-mache character faced-shoulder head, painted features, open/closed mouth with molded/painted teeth (some are darkened on purpose). The head appears to be intact (clothes are sewn on & too fragile to remove). Black leather knee length boots. Gold (darkened over time) braid trim.
